What you have to bear in mind is that this account of Culloden is over fifty years old, and that there has been a considerable amount of research on the subject since, which has uncovered small factual differences since it was written.

The book covers the battle and its shocking aftermath, for someone who wants to know what it was like 'to be there', this is as good an approximation as you are likely to get.
